Born and raised in the quiet, suburban New Jersey town of Cedar Grove, Jakob spent his childhood growing up in public schools, playing sports, trading cards and running around shirtless creating alternate universes, imagining wild adventures in far off places all of which actually took place in the woods of northern NJ. He competed in several sports in high school- football, baseball, cross country track and spent plenty of time hiking, snowboarding and skiing.
During his college years, Jakob broadened his horizons at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. While at school he studied Film and Theatre, but took time to dabble in photography, writing, and steady drinking. The winters were especially busy for Jakob as he raced on Marist’s Alpine Ski Team competing in both Slalom and Giant Slalom.
Although his travels have taken him all over the world, Jakob is firmly rooted at home in NYC, but should a call from LA arise, he would surely consider the job. Or London, London is cool too. Oh wait, maybe Moscow… Sorry, got off track there for a second. Anyway, he has had the privilege to study with great teachers from all aspects of performing like Michael Howard, Susan Batson, Fay Simpson, Eric Davis, and Ali Farahnakian. Most of all, Jakob considers himself – a storyteller. No matter the form, genre, or style, he is a teller of tales, both tall and short.
